before you send a brief
What kind of facilitation do you need?
Many organisations ask for a communication workshop and have a decision problem. Or they ask for a team building and have a conflict. Not out of bad intent, but because from where you stand, that is what you see.
Facilitation is not one thing. A room where a decision gets made is one job, a room working inside an old tension is another, a conference of three hundred people is a third. The design changes, and so does the training of the person holding it.
Ten questions about what is happening on your side, none about preferences. At the end I tell you what kind of facilitation solves your problem, what kind of facilitator to look for, what question to ask them as a check, and what to write in the brief.
It takes two minutes. You do not have to give anything to see the result.

Want the full map?
Every kind of facilitation on one page, each with its distinction, the training it calls for and the moment you choose something else. I send you the map and, now and then, what I learn from the rooms I work in. One or two letters a month.
By sending your address you subscribe to the newsletter. You unsubscribe in one click, from any letter.
The distinctions start from the twelve edges in Lucy Chambers' "Edges of Facilitation" series, read from the facilitation side.
