What a stranger sees in 5 minutes
The cheapest culture diagnostic needs no survey, budget or consultant. It needs a five-minute walk through your own office, through the eyes of someone coming in for the first time who has to decide whether they would work there.
A team's culture also lives in the things nobody sees any more: the notice left in the hallway two years ago, the note on the fridge written in a tone nobody chose, last Friday's flipchart. A new person sees all of it in the first minutes and forms an opinion. You have seen it a thousand times, so you no longer see it at all.
This tool gives you back, for five minutes, the stranger's eyes.
How it works
- Five stops, in the order a visitor passes them: the entrance, the hall or reception, the coffee area, the bathroom, the meeting room
- At each stop, a single statement to rate from 1 to 5, plus the concrete list of things you look at
- A score out of 25 and four thresholds you can read on your own, with nobody explaining the result to you
- The rule that makes the tool work: you note what you see, not what you know. If you catch yourself explaining ("yes, but that's because…"), you cut the explanation, because the explanation is exactly what the stranger doesn't have
- The value is not in the total score but in the stop with the lowest rating. That is where the first change starts
Who it is for
For team leaders, HR people and facilitators who want visible evidence before a conversation about culture. You do it alone, in five minutes, without asking anyone anything and without announcing it to anyone. Nothing you fill in goes anywhere: the interactive version keeps everything in your browser.

What comes after the five minutes
The pilot only touches what you can see on walls and desks. Culture also lives in calendars, in files, in the language used and in what isn't said in meetings. When you want to move from a walk to a conversation with the team, I work on culture starting from the very things you noted.
